Golf Balls: Pro V1 & Pro V1X

Titleist Pro V1 2019 Golf Ball Review The Titleist Pro V1x is a four-piece ball with 328 dimples and it is this different type of construction that delivers the alternative feel and performance to Pro V1. This brings the performance of the 2019 Pro V1 and Pro V1x to around the same levels with the irons. The cast urethane cover is 17% thinner and works with a new casing layer underneath it. The side stamp design is the same shape as the previous , but it is now grey instead of black. Both offer better short game control. Then you tweak your driver set up to get the most from the ball using the adjustable options most of them have these days. Designed for all golfers, they provide excellent distance and consistency in their flight.

Know the differences: Pro V1 vs. Pro V1x

What a lot of guys liked about it was the fact that it does spin a little bit less and aerodynamically it flies a little lower. With the release of its 2017 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls, however, Titleist switched the script. Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x are some of the most popular golf balls available. Made for golfers with a faster swing speed, the Pro V1x offers a firmer feel and lower spin rate than the Pro V1. It is a little faster off the face and flies higher with a bit less spin, so I was gaining a four more yards. With my 7-iron there was a bigger drop in spin between the old and new Pro V1x balls than there was between the two Pro V1s.

While great for generating high spin on approach shots and short game shots, the cover does not contribute speed. Well it's pretty simple really. Uploaded logo via the website and received order confirmation including an image of the approved logo later that same day. So while the 2019 series of golf balls was made to be lower spinning, the Pro V1x still spins relatively more than its Pro V1 counterpart. For some the difference might be clear, but for me and my 100mph driver swing speed I am on the line between the two. With the 2019 Pro V1 family I think we are back to the decision being based more on feel preference, as the numbers are once again pretty close. Balls shipped in a matter of days and arrived a few days after that.

That was common knowledge, embedded into the psyche of not just Titleist golf ball users, but golfers in general. But the new process in the 2017 Pro V1 really lowered that driver spin and increased speed to where throughout the bag, the Pro V1 spun less than the Pro V1x. Somebody returned these items to The Cave without ever using them. With my driver the 2019 Pro V1x is spinning about the same as its predecessor and about the same as the 2019 Pro V1. Logo on balls came out great. I would spin that way too much.

Golf Balls: Pro V1 & Pro V1X

Now Available Pro V1 x Left Dash golf balls are designed for players seeking a high flight similar to Pro V1 x with dramatically lower full swing spin and firmer feel. The differences between them are very specific. Having just established that the Pro V1x is a higher-spinning ball, Thomas decided to switch to the lower-spinning Pro V1 for more spin? It is a three piece construction with 352 dimples arranged in a spherically-tiled tetrahedral design. However in 2017, the Pro V1x was giving me more distance and better control because it spins more, so it switched to that. That relationship remained for the next 14 years. The 2017 Pro V1x was a higher-spinning, and still higher-flying, golf ball than the 2017 Pro V1. The yellow is also translucent so Titleist had to paint the casing layer underneath the cover with a clear primer so that the yellow stands out.

So from a feel and sound standpoint it would be somewhere kind of right in the middle. Contact or visit your local Titleist golf shop to learn more or place an order. Why cause any type of confusion, especially for such a well-known and understood relationship? Keep that pattern name for your next golf trivia quiz! Since the box was opened though, we can't sell them as brand new. If you have a higher swing speed than me, then Pro V1x could be the better choice, but as always, the best thing is to do your own test. Therefore, this item cannot ship via Express Delivery or International service. Thomas, however, is correct in his reasoning.

The 2017 version was the first one where the Pro V1 spun less than the Pro V1x and I believe this was to try and get some more distance out of it, as it had started to lag behind the firmer Pro V1x. Understand which model might be the right ball for you. In the last couple of generations there has been a marked difference in performance between the Pro V1 and Pro V1x, so you could test them both out and see from the numbers which one was best for you. The proprietary cast thermoset urethane elastomer cover system provides the best scoring control. By reducing the cover thickness, we have added speed while retaining the spin and control. As a Titleist Customized Performance Option, Pro V1 x Left Dash is designed to fit players with very unique launch conditions as well as evaluate forward looking technologies beyond the prototype environment. For 2019 I think I will be back to Pro V1 because it is now a little longer and I prefer the feel, as I think the Pro V1x has maybe become a little firmer this time round.

No matter how well you know your game or the relationship between the Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls — or any golf balls for that matter — getting properly fit by a professional fitter is always the right decision for your game. Titleist launched the Pro V1x golf ball alongside its second-generation Pro V1 golf ball in 2003, and golfers quickly understood the relationship between the two golf balls; the four-piece Pro V1x spins less than the three-piece Pro V1. As you can see from my driver stats below, the 2019 Pro V1 makes some marginal gains in quite a few areas. With the 7-iron it was a similar story, but there still seemed to be enough grip to stop the ball on the green, thanks to the performance of the urethane cover. The good news is that whichever Pro V1 you opt for, you will still be playing one of the best balls in the market. Both are longer than the 2017 Pro V1, so if you are using that ball then you should look to upgrade to either of the 2019 offerings.
